God, I Can't Do This Anymore!!!

There are some mighty big giants in our lives today.  Some of them we can openly discuss, others we can only discuss with our spouses...some we feel like we can only discuss with our heavenly Father.  So the question is this: "What Giants Do You Need To Slay Today?"   Unsurety?  Doubt?  Addiction?  Fear?  Do you catch yourself saying "God, I Can't Do This Anymore!!!" ?     How do we handle these situations that we find ourselves in?   How do we find ourselves a nightlight to get us out of the darkness?  Rest assured in the words of Psalm 27 as you see them in the following graphic:

GOD is calling HIS FOLLOWERS to a season of prayer! Don't know what for?....do it anyway. The reason isn't always what's important...what IS is that YOU talk to HIM....don't inform HIM of what YOU expect from HIM......LISTEN to what HE has to say to YOU!  Prayer is the quickest way you can communicate with God when you're facing the giants in your life.

Facing a Giant today?......talk to GOD about it....HE will be waiting with 5 smooth stones!  Remember.....peace is not the absence of storms in our lives....peace is the presence of the Savior when we are going through those storms!

PRESS ON!!!

How often have you found yourself going through some trial or task only to feel at some point like giving up?  I know I've felt that way MANY times.

I'm always comforted though by the words found in Philippians Chapter 3, verses 7 - 14.  Check it out:

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.

For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.  I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,  so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that i have already reached perfection.

But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing:  Forgetting that past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Now if you are like me, many times you stop at that point and think, "Wow!  That is inspiring!"  And true, it is....but when you need some encouragement, DO NOT STOP THERE!

Check out verses 15 & 16:

Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.  But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.

WOW!  When those thoughts of doubt and fear come towards you, just remember that if God has truly called you to it, He will see you through it!  Finish The Race!!!  God bless you all....and remember, LISTEN LIVE AT http://www.whif.org/ !!!

TOUCHDOWN!

Okay, so I'm technically stealing this post from my good friend, Pastor Dan Davis but it's too good and too touching not to pass this on.  We all love a good football game from time to time and when the quarterback runs 51 yards to make the touchdown, that's pretty awesome...but what makes this particular play so wonderful?

Both teams came together to make this play happen....you see, the quarterback finally got the chance to feel like as much of a hero as the heros he has....this time, the quarterback has Down Syndrome.  Get out the tissues!

Is it still good???

I was standing in line at the store the other day and noticed something that many of us take for granted....an expiration date.  As a matter of fact, the product I was looking at was one day past its date.  Now many of us may feel that one day is nothing really to worry about.  I guess it depends on the product.  If you're like me, you pretty much depend on the people working in the store to monitor the dates and keep us safe from harmful foods (still not sure about those chicken-salad-sandwiches you see in the convenience store that say they're good for the next 4 weeks....#1, I don't believe it...#2, that's just gross).

Well, there's one date that if I were to see it, I would have no problem consuming it...the date would read like this:  From Everlasting To Everlasting.

Those of us who are believers are already consumers of this product.  The book of Jeremiah says it in the third verse of chapter 31:  The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.  In deed, it NEVER expires!

How awesome it is to know that we can be receivers of something that NEVER EXPIRES....THE LOVE OF GOD!  It's good for today, tomorrow, next week and even unto the future generations!  Have a blessed day and remember, LISTEN LIVE AT WWW.WHIF.ORG !!!

Hope in the Distance

So how was your weekend?  Ours was an okay two days.  I had a GREAT time sharing Saturday afternoon and evening with you....was kind of fun crashing in on the last few minutes of Alisha's show...wish you could have seen her face when I walked in...it was CLASSIC!

Been doin a lot of thinking this morning.  I won't be too specific here but I had an "event" to tend to Saturday morning and it got me really bummed and upset.  I was the only one to show up for it.  Ever feel like you're beating your head against a brick wall?....like, there's no hope with what you're trying to do?  That was me Saturday morning but God worked through the music Saturday afternoon and really helped me out.  It reminded me that I am but a tool of the Hand of God....I can not save the world....I'm not called to save the world....I'm called to be a tool.  Thank You, Jesus, that You heard my cry and that You do not disappoint!  Help me to remember that all I have to do is start...YOU are the One who will finish.

One of my favorite songs is by TobyMac...."City on our Knees".   Here's my favorite part:  "If you gotta start somewhere why not here...If you gotta start sometime why not now?  If we gotta start somewhere I say here...If we gotta start sometime I say now!  Through the fog there is hope in the distance..."

Did you catch that last line?  Through the fog there is HOPE in the distance....   so, no matter how bad the fog is, remember, there is hope in the distance and His name is JESUS!

Someone told me once that charachter is what you build when you're doing the right thing even though no one is looking....well, there is SOMEONE who is ALWAYS LOOKING....remember that HE is our HOPE in the DISTANCE!  Have a great day and remember......LISTEN LIVE AT http://www.whif.org/ !!!!

Picnics with Boo

As I'm sitting here typing, my Boo is taking a nap.  What is my Boo?  My three year old son.  Today is a special day as every Friday is.  It's the first day of my weekend.  Fridays for me are always spent like this:  1)  Get the kids up, dressed, fed and off to take my oldest son to school.  2)  Then it's our ritual trip to the Wal*Mart.  My three year old and his baby sister absolutely LOVE to go to that place.  Not that we're buying anything but that the workers there by now know who my kids are and they always speak to them.  Also, Boo loves to greet the fish.  Any trip to Wal*Mart requires a stop by the fish tanks.

For the rest of the week, Boo will talk about something from our trip today for the next six days.  Children are like sponges...they soak up everything they are around.  All the more reason that we teach them early about the Love of the Lord, His commands and why it's so important to become a Christ follower.

While he had a wonferful time at the store (as he always does), today is a little more special though.  When he wakes up, sister is going to Nanny's house and then us guys are goin on a park picnic.  He's been asking the last week or so to go to the park but life has been crazy busy!  Well, not today.  Today, my time belongs to my little boy.  We're going to pack a lunch...it's gonna be kind of fun to be a kid again...if only the swings were sturdy enough for me.  It's okay...I can still scale the little pirate ship and run across the gangplank.

If you're a parent reading today's blog, think about what it says in Psalms 127, verses 3 - 5:
Don't you see that children are God's best gift? The fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior's fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth.  Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children!  Your enemies don't stand a chance against you; you'll sweep them right off your doorstep.

I'm sure that the writer meant something far more deeper but I know that in about an hour, our enemies.....the pirates....they don't stand a chance!  COME ON BOO!!!!  IT'S TIME FOR A PICNIC AT THE PARK!

I'M SOOOO GOOD!!!!

Okay, so now that I've got you thinking "Wow....that's.....well now", I'm not trying to boast.  It's an attitude I came across this morning and wondered "Do I ever act like that?".  Check this out-

Luke 18: 9 -12....Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.  The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: "God, I think you that I am not like other men- robbers, evildoers, adulterers- or even like this tax collector.  I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get."

WOW!  Can this guy be any more boastful about his good works?!  Do you know anyone like that?  I know I sure do....wanna know his name?  I'll tell ya....it's Adam!  Yes, I'm speaking about me.  How often do we come before the Lord and without even realizing it, act like "God, I've done this for you and that for you and oh yeah, this too!"

Look what this passage goes on to say in verses 13 & 14.....   "But the tax collector stood at a distance.  He would not even look up to heaven but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner!  I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God.  For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

The prayer I want to find myself praying is that of the tax collector.  Not long phrases of eloquent language....just simple truth.

Maybe you're struggling just as I do sometimes.  Here's how you can get beyond it....pray like the tax collector: "God, have mercy on me, a sinner!"  Remember, there are a million things that we need healing from...our attitudes and mindsets about ourselves and others are just a couple.

May be you blessed today...and remember....LISTEN LIVE AT WWW.WHIF.ORG !

Got Hope?

Hi there...  hope you're having an awesome day!  Things are going well here at 91.3 HOPE fm.  Can't wait to talk with you THIS SATURDAY!  I've got some awesome music lined up for you and I can't wait!  Unfortunately, we have to.  So while we're waiting, think about this:  What is it that gives YOU hope?

For me, it's my faith in Christ, my wife's beautiful smile and laughter from my kids...in that order.

God's WORD reveals something about this that is "Off-The-Charts-Inspiring!"

It's found in the book of Romans, chapter 5, verses 6-8.  Here goes...   Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn't, and doesn't, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn't been so weak, we wouldn't have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. (The Message)

Make sure that your HOPE is built on something worth while...  Remember, when it's all said and done, everything will be gone and all you will be left with is Christ standing in front of you.  What would your response be if he were to say "Who did you place your HOPE and trust in?"
