As Jesus
and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard
that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy
on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted
all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,”
they answered, “we want our sight.”
Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they
received their sight and followed him.
- Matthew
20: 29-34
Jesus was passing their way and they knew and had faith that He could help
them. How many times has He passed by
our way and we knew that He could help us yet we were too stubborn and prideful
to cry out to Him?
Each time the blind men would cry out, the crowd would try
to hush them up. They just kept crying
louder and louder. Why, then, when we
are crying out to the Lord, we give up so easily in our efforts to seek Him
just because someone or something tells us to hush?... get over it?... stop
depending on God? Buck up and do it
ourselves?
Jesus didn’t give up on the blind men and no matter what
man may try today, if Jesus wants to do something, no one and nothing can stop
Him. The only “Stopping” He did that day
was to stop and heal those men.
Jesus had compassion on them
and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. -Matthew
20:34
Stop following those who would have you to hush and start
following the One who stops for you when you cry out for Him!
Thank God He never stops stopping for me!...and you!!
